Apple has moved through 2026 in bursts. First came a new AirTag in January, followed by a packed March launch cycle and two major Mac updates in August. Add everything up, and Apple has announced 11 new hardware products this year, with its biggest event still ahead.

AirTag 2 started the year

Apple’s first new hardware of 2026 arrived on January 26 with the second-generation AirTag. AirTag 2 uses Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, extending Precision Finding range by up to 50%. It also offers a longer Bluetooth range, a louder speaker, and Precision Finding from compatible Apple Watch models. Apple kept pricing unchanged at $29 for one AirTag or $99 for a four-pack. Amazon currently lists each for $24 and $79.99, respectively.

The updated AirTag reflects Apple’s continued investment in its Find My ecosystem. The accessory has become a popular addition to keys, bags, bikes, and luggage, and this new model brings meaningful upgrades without raising the entry price. The longer Bluetooth range and louder speaker make it easier to locate misplaced items, while the Watch integration adds convenience for users who do not carry an iPhone at all times.

Eight new products in March

March delivered the bulk of Apple’s 2026 hardware announcements so far, with eight products unveiled during the month. The month started with the $599 iPhone 17e. Apple doubled the starting storage to 256GB while adding the A19 chip, C1X modem, MagSafe, and a new soft pink color.

The iPhone 17e is positioned as the entry-level iPhone in Apple’s lineup, but the inclusion of the A19 chip and MagSafe suggests Apple is narrowing the gap between its standard and Pro models. The 256GB starting storage is a notable shift, as Apple has often kept base storage lower on affordable iPhones. The new soft pink color also gives buyers a fresh option that was previously unavailable in this tier.

Apple also introduced the M4 iPad Air in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes. It gained 12GB of memory alongside Apple’s C1X cellular modem and N1 wireless chip. The M4 chip, previously found in iPad Pro models, brings a significant performance boost to the iPad Air line. The addition of 12GB of memory also positions the iPad Air for more demanding multitasking and future Apple Intelligence features.

One day later, Apple announced four more products: the M5 MacBook Air, M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro, an updated Studio Display, and the all-new Studio Display XDR. The M5 chip debuts in the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, continuing Apple’s transition to its own silicon. The Studio Display XDR is a new high-end option for professionals who need extreme brightness, wide color, and reference modes in an Apple-branded display.

Apple followed that lineup with the all-new MacBook Neo on March 4. The $699 laptop uses the A18 Pro chip and became Apple’s most affordable Mac notebook. The MacBook Neo represents a departure from the traditional Mac naming scheme. By using an iPhone-class chip rather than a Mac-grade chip, Apple is able to offer a lower price while retaining the core macOS experience. The device is aimed at students and first-time Mac buyers who do not need the power of an M-series chip.

Finally, Apple returned on March 16 with AirPods Max 2. The H2 chip powers improved noise cancellation, Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness, Live Translation, and other features previously unavailable on AirPods Max. The original AirPods Max launched in 2020 and received little hardware attention until now. The second-generation model brings the AirPods lineup into closer parity, adding features that have been available on AirPods Pro for years. The H2 chip also improves battery efficiency and audio processing.

Mac mini and Mac Studio announced

Apple’s latest hardware announcements came on August 25. The updated Mac mini offers either Apple’s new M6 chip or M5 Pro. Both configurations gain faster storage, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and standard 2.5Gb Ethernet. Pricing starts at $899.

The Mac mini has long been Apple’s most versatile desktop for people who already have a monitor and peripherals. The addition of the M6 chip in the base model is significant, as it brings the latest chip generation to the most affordable Mac desktop. The inclusion of Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 keeps the Mac mini ready for next-generation wireless accessories and networking. The faster storage also reduces load times for applications and large files.

Apple also unveiled a new Mac Studio powered by M5 Max or M5 Ultra. The highest-end configuration supports up to 512GB of unified memory. The Mac Studio sits between the Mac mini and Mac Pro in Apple’s professional desktop lineup. With M5 Max and M5 Ultra options, it offers enough performance for video editing, 3D rendering, and machine learning work. The 512GB unified memory ceiling is especially notable, as it allows professionals to work with massive datasets entirely in memory.

Both Macs are available to pre-order now and will begin reaching customers on September 22. The timing means Apple will have the Mac mini and Mac Studio shipping just as the company prepares for its September event, giving customers a fresh lineup of desktops to pair with whatever new devices Apple announces next.

Much more could be weeks away

Apple has scheduled its ‘Surprise and shine’ product event for September 9. The company is expected to unveil iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, its first foldable iPhone, Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, and AirPods 5.

If those expectations are correct, Apple’s second half of 2026 will be remarkably busy. The first foldable iPhone would be a major new product category for the company, representing a response to folding devices from Samsung and other manufacturers. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to include camera and display upgrades, while the Apple Watch and AirPods updates would refresh two of Apple’s most popular accessories.

Apple now has 11 products announced for 2026, but the September event could add six or more new hardware releases. The company typically spaces its announcements across the year, but this year’s pattern suggests Apple is saving its biggest announcements for the fall. With the Mac mini and Mac Studio already on pre-order, Apple has set the stage for a holiday season that includes both upgraded desktops and a new generation of portables and wearables.
